Side Imaging problem with 2 transducers
« on: October 30, 2016, 02:05:56 PM »
Hi everyone. I have an 1199ci with 2 thru-hull transducers connected with a as si lr y cable to shoot off either side of a v shaped hull in SI and the port side image is noticeably dimmer than the starboard side all of the time.  Does anyone have any suggestions or experience with this problem? I called customer service tech support but they were no help.

This could be caused by a.... bad transducer .. transducer on that side of boat not level....weak side in the head unit .... bad connection ....etc.

The first thing I would do is check the connections and if they are OK .... reverse the transducers so the left and right are backwards....see if the problem follows the transducer or the head unit.
**Looking for the one that makes it all worthwhile**

Sorry for not responding sooner but I don't have access to the internet all the time.  I tried what you suggested and when I switched the transducer cables on the left and right side of the y cable it seemed like both sides were equally bright. Then when I switched them back it was the same as it was. The 2 sides being equally bright might be because the opposite sides of the transducers are shooting against the hull.  So my guess would be that the transducers are ok?  Where do you think I should go from here?  As far as the angle of the ducers goes I took care to get them as level as possible.  They are very close to being dead level.

Working correctly when the xducers were swapped (left and right) indicate that hardware is working correctly ...

Working incorrectly on the left xducer indicates there is some sort of blockage of the left SI piezo in the port xducer ...

Is there anything on the transom to the left of the port SI xducer ...

Thank you for trying to help.  No I made sure that nothing was blocking the transducers.  That's why I went ahead and bought a second one and the proper splitter cable since there was no ideal location on my v-hull boat.  It seems like if there was a way to adjust the sensitivity on both sides independently that would be a way to fix it but I don't think there is. Maybe in a software update they could add that function option?

Is it possible you may have the port and starboard xducers connected backwards ... ??

You can easily test this by covering the face of 1 xducer to see which side of the SI image goes black ...
