Trouble with software update
« on: August 08, 2014, 10:22:51 PM »
Just downloaded the latest software for my Onix 8CI SI. Think it is version 1.2 released 7/16/14. Install was normal until it restarted. It went to the first time set up screens and would not exit. I tried the manual option and also loading my settings from the data backed up on my SD card. Re started several times and also killed the power to the unit which was suggested by tech support.  Nothing worked until I finally got it out of set up mode by pushing on the very upper left of the screen and some menus popped up.  The unit seemed to be limping, but it did work after all that.  Most but not all of my menu settings were restored. I powered it down and have not restarted it, but am afraid when I do it will enter the first time set up mode again. I hope some one can tell me how to fix this.

Should I re download the software and reinstall?  Is there a factory re-set option somewhere in the software menus?  Tech support told me if I couldn't get it working I would have to send it in for repair which would be a huge hassle.

Any and all ideas welcome!

Problem solved if anyone else has the same issue.  Unit kept going to first time set up when I powered it up.  Was able to exit that by repeatedly pushing the top left of the screen.  Found the option to reset/restore factory settings (think it's under settings from the home screen).  Did that, which forced a re-start.  The unit once again went to the first time set-up, but this time it finally completed the setup routine and started normally.  I had backed up all my settings and nav data and when I imported them I lost some of those settings.  Minor hassle but was able to re-create what I lost.  Hoping this was a one-time glitch -- prior software upgrade worked fine.
