rdstair, I split your post off of the other topic because it dealt with something else.  It will also make it easier for others to find it when they search for the same answer to the same question.

No, I have not heard that LakeMaster mapping cards can be successfully copied and used.  You will have to get a second mapping card for your 998 unit.

If these cards were easy to copy, then whole bass clubs
would just buy one card, and let all the members copy it.
Lakemaster/Johnson Outdoors would lose lots of money.

Frequently Asked Questions
CAN I COPY MY CHIP?
You can make a backup copy of the mapfile on your computer for archival purposes only. All LakeMaster cards are copyright protected and will not work on any card other than the original. It is also not advised to try to copy your LakeMaster card as you may accidentally overwrite the map file on the card which will render it useless.

evidently there is a security code on the card that will not transfer in the copy.  it will not work without that code

You can do a search on "SD Duplicator".  Lots of devices out there.  Even if they work you will still be breaking copyright laws, if you are planning to use it in two units.   Back in 797 days, wish I could have moved the navionics data to a larger capacity chip, so could record and save without swapping cards back and forth.   Two slots in the 798ci took care of that.   If simple copying worked, I would like to move the data to a faster SD chip.

If it bends my rod, I'm a happy fisherman.
