Depth values in my trail data all zeroes
« on: April 22, 2012, 11:15:33 PM »
I finally got out on the water this afternoon to play around with my 998SI.  I spent some time going over some areas I knew really well so I could get a feel for reading the SI image.
So, since I now had a new trail created by this unit, I saved the trail I had followed, exported the data to an SD chip, and loaded it into HumminbirdPC.   When I look at the trail point data,
all the depth values are zero.  I was expecting the unit to have been recording depth along with the delta east/north values as it saved my trail points.  I didn't see a menu option to enable depth recording so thought maybe someone here can shed some light on it.

When you looked at the trackpoints for the water depth data; did you do so with the file downloaded to HumminbirdPC or was this directly from the SD memory card?

What version HumminbirdPC are you running?

I'm running HumminbirdPC 4.2.0.    I exported the data to the SD chip and performed the transfer to my PC directly through HumminbirdPC.   When I look at the track data, the depths are all zero.   When  I looked at the raw .gpx file, the XML shows 0 for the depth.  And, I also looked at the raw binary .HT file and I see the track points, their east/north deltas are there but the bytes in the record for depth are zero.   So, I'm have to assume the data isn't being written to the file by my 998 unit.

Can any of this or has any of this been exported/imported to excel.  We have done the export for use in another mapping program, and the depth has been there.  Now we have not done this lately so dont know if new code has done something.

I installed software version 6.180 on the 998 unit.
