Underwater building? Your thoughts...
« on: January 22, 2012, 07:16:31 PM »
Found this today while cruising around looking for fish structure.  Any thoughts as to what it is?
Thanks,

Well, looks to me like a concrete structure down in a low area....pretty well defined hard object laying there as well.  At first I thought it had 3 openings, but I think those are just shadows from pieces that stick out a little from the main object.  My guess would be an old bridge and piling..........Either that or a UFO landing site. ;D

Pretty good snapshot from your 798.
**Looking for the one that makes it all worthwhile**

Thanks,  this one is actually from my 1198.  I'm fairly new to the SI/DI thing so still learning to interpret what is on the screen.

We have something in a local lake that looks similar to the left side of your image. It is an underwater intake
to feed the fire hydrants in the winter when the lake freezes over. From the top of the image down to the cursor
is 8" well casing welded together. The tabs are braces to keep it out of the silt. The intake is different than here.
It is a 4' cube wire cage with the intake suspended about 2' off bottom. I don't think the two hard objects to
the right of the cursor are very tall as there isn't much of a shadow for being 75' away.
My guess for the other item that you past directly over and is shown in the DI could be a water intake for a dam
or town.
Is that land on the right side of the image?

The object is sitting on a break near the river channel.  The river channel would be on the right side of screen and the object is closer to shore.
