OK.  let us know.    The power buttons have been giving problems..
HB may want to look at the buttons and connectors the have chosen for their products...

How long did HB say it would take to get your unit back? I need to send in mine with the same issue and was wondering how long the turn around time is.

Thanks!

I sent the unit in Next Day Air Monday of this week....I received an email they received the unit and are repairung it....They did not provide an ETA as of today...I hope its back by the weekend, but if not I have the boat here to hook the TD up to my 1198, I share sonar and the TD is connected to the 898 plug....I'll post when it comes in, Im hopin today or tomorrow but that may be wishful thinking.

I'm at a crossroads.....wondering if I should send my unit back from where I purchased it (digitaloasis.com) in exchange for a new one or send it back to HB for repair? My concern would be if I get a new one from D.O.com and it might have the same power button issue. I wonder if HB knows about the power button issue and it was cleared up after a certain build/date code?

Im not 100% sure, but, I have read on here that it was a known issue. Greg and HB have been awesome in doing the repair under warranty....If it was me I would send it to HB, if you get another from where you bought it it might have the same issues...JMO

We test all the buttons multiple times before packaging and shipping the units (this is a mandatory part of the computerized testing we do) yet a small percentage end up having this issue.  It does not appear to follow any lot or build date as far as I have been told.  I would send your unit back to the factory here at Humminbird.  Call the Customer Resource folks at 1-800-633-1468 to set this up.

Have you guys tried holding the power button in for a few seconds?

Do this powering up or down.

It seems it takes a few seconds for the units to start up or turn off.

It does seems that the power button is having some problems.
We see enough postings of trouble and repair to think the button may have some trouble.
Even though the factory tests are not showing a problem we the users do see a failure.
Hopefully HB can look into their supplier and question the problem.

She is here!!! Got my unit back from Hb and installed her and messed with it a little, main thing was seeing if my networking still worked and it does...Although inside my shop its hard to get a signal (metal roof)...but all looks good so far....I had to reset all my settings that I liked (from memory lol) Only thing was the plastic handles with the threaded rod (hard to describe) that hold the unit to the mount were missing....no big deal I guess...I'll make somethin work for now....Also the actual 898 case when they put it back together all the small screws were not tight, you can pinch the unit and the two peices move...BUT all in all happy, the power button works awesome!!
