Copy Waypoints from Hot Maps Explorer to my 1197
« on: May 15, 2011, 10:35:20 AM »

I added a bunch of new waypoints on to Navionics Explorer software, then exported the file to an SD card.

How can I import them on to my 1197 from the SD card?

Not able to see the file on the SD card from the unit.

Would appreciate you help.

George

George I believe when you put the card in the 1197 and turned it on at that time it should of said new or
no new Data found. Apparently the unit is not seeing any information on the card.Did you format the card?
Have you added waypoints before? If the information you put on the card is not exactly right the head will not read it.
I believe when you get the info right on the SD card put it in the unit turn it on it will do everthing else. Gary

Thanks Stillbear

Went on line and found that I needed download "Fugawi Data Exchange Guide".

This explained how to download the files so that my HB unit would see it and it worked like a charm.  The instructions are included for Lowrance, Garmin and others.  I downloaded 117 waypoints in less then a minute.

George,
When you exported the waypoints from the Navionics Explorer software the first time; what file extension were they in?  I’m guessing *.gpx or some other format besides the *.hwr format that the Humminbird units read.

Hi Greg

Since I did not save the file, do not know what the file extension was, the current file extension is *.hwr which works great.
