I have installed HumViewer and would like to view a screenshot from my 1197c. I don't need to use recordings as a static picture serves me best. Any thoughts? :-\

Hi and welcome to the forum Kevin.

I don't think it is possible to view snapshots with Humviewer. I know you wrote that you like static pictures in front. However, I would think about it again, I think(that's my personal opinion) that recordings serve better for searching things. It is easy to miss targets just looking on the screen and then take snapshots. If you record instead, you will have the chance to view everything on a computer with bigger screen and hopefully see things that you normally would miss.

Kevin,

The snapshots from the 1197c can be viewed using Windows Picture Viewer or any image editor.

I have been using Windows Office Picture Manager to view the .pgn files and converting them to .jep's. However I cannot access the .dat files as they are code. I was hoping HumViewer would allow that, but it will only read recordings, not snapshots. Tomorrow I will open the simulator and make a recording then try HumViewer. Should be fun! If anyone know how to retrieve data from the .dat file associated with a snapshot, please let me know.

The Humminbird.dat files are hex files.  You will have to have a program dedicated to read the info and calculate the GPS data etc.

I have been working on a program to manage your snapshots and recordings.  It will read the .dat file and show the waypoint location of the snapshot or recording on map and also allow you to make notes about it.

I know this is just a teaser but I havent had time to complete it yet.  Along with some other cool stuff I have been working on.  Just not enough time in the day!
