Platinum ID 600 ?????
« on: September 27, 2010, 05:29:09 AM »
Hello guys when I got the boat it had an old Hummingbird Platinum ID 600, I am looking to upgrade to a new unit with color etc. I was wondering if anyone out there has done this before using the old cabling or do I have to run new ones. Is there any type of adapter or conector that can be changed to use the current wiring for a new model or a newer unit that will plug into the current wiring and work fine. I am seeking the help of you guys, and any help will be appreciated thanks

The only thing you will be able to reuse is the power cable (depending on the new unit model you purchase) and possibly the temp/speed gauge (if you have one of those).  Not sure about the temp/speed gauge as I cannot find a listing for the one used with the Platinum units but I can send you a drawing of what the current temp/speed gauge connector looks like and if they are the same it will work.  The transducer and unit mounting bracket have all changed.

You are best to get a new unit and move the P600 to trolling motor, or other watercraft.  A kayak, canoe, or portable operation.  You could sell it, but generally won't get much for an old unit like that.  So if you can use it in any other capacity, that would be of more value.
If it bends my rod, I'm a happy fisherman.

The only Humminbird plug adaptor I have seen is to adapt the transducer for the early LCR units to the Humminbird paper graph or Super 30/60 which used a BNC plug. I have one of those.
