My 997c SI is installed in my 28 ft Sea Ray. Due to the deep V hull and two outdrives I had to use two through hull tansducers and a Y cable. Each transducer only looks to one side. My question is will the new down looking software work with this type of set up?

I too have a similar setup and no problems with the down imaging. One of the guys at the UK Johnson's told me that one transducer looks down and to the side and the other just looks to the side. Can't remember which one did what though.

If I remember right, the port is SI only and the strbd is SI, 2d, and temp.

Rob, The 'through hull' XPTH 9 HDSI 180 T transponders will work with Si- that's what I thought was what you meant. The 'shoot through the hull' transponders won't.

i think that would be in incorrect statement about what ducers go with SI.
I currently run two ducers and one of mine is in-hull(shoot -thru) called the XP 9 20 or the XP 9 20 T if you want another temp.
There are also a couple more choices that will work with SI as long as you have the AS SIDB Y(cable) you can split out the 2-d portion of any dual beam ducer and it will work.
Hope that clears that up...

I stand corrected. When I was sourcing mine, UK Johnsons told me that Si doesn't work with a shoot though. Obviously it does if you've got this setup!

JOHNSON UK's statement is still true.
SI is NOT working as shoot through technology. In fact there are no SI shoot through the hull transducers available.
Shooting through means you mount the transducer inside the hull and the signal goes through the fiberglass.
The shoot through transducers which can be used IN COMBINATION with SI give only the 2D downlooking signal which can be transmitted and received through the fiberglass. But even then, the hull has to be a one layer hull or in case of a multilayer hull, the transducer has to be epoxied on the OUTER fiberglass layer. In addition to that, the fiberglass has to be bubble free and homogen. The shoot through transducers have the advantage that one doesn't have to drill a hole in the hull.
"In hull" Si transducers are break through transducers, means a hole has to be drilled in the hull and the transducer sticks out under the hull.
With break through transducers the initial set up has to be very carefully chosen, because once set / placed the angles (vertical, horizontal and so on) are hard to change. Transom mounted transducer can be adjusted more easily.

I actually like to use the term “inside-the-hull” transducer for those transducers that get epoxied on the inside or the hull.
I use "Thru-Hull" for those that mount through a hole in the hull.

tru hull transducers are mounted on the outside and drilled trough the hull
I this a good compromise to feed to the world?

It works for me Hendrik and usually everyone understands what type of transducer they are.
