Title: Extending transducer cable
Post by: pentlanddiver on February 07, 2015, 02:45:35 PM
I'm planning to mount the 798ci transducer on a 'keel' mounted below the towfish of a magnetometer. The towfish and transducer will be about 25m behind the towing boat at a depth of about 10m.
I've read the many posts about cables but I'm still confused enough that I'm not sure what to buy. The transducer cable has 2 screened twisted pairs inside an overall screen. Each screen has a multistrand drain wire running within it.
I need to add about 30m of cable to the transducer.
Has anyone extended a 798ci transducer cable by about 30m and if so what cable have you used. Are the screen drains really important?
Thanks

I know Lowrance makes cable extenders. Check with Hb customer service and ask them...Chuck

When you use that many extensions cables, like 3 of them, do you need to put the sensitivity higher ?
