Title: Bottom readings on 596c hd diH
Post by: minerdoug on August 21, 2014, 02:04:28 PM
Hi, My 596c hd di does great all day long until the lake bottom has a radical change in depth. When that happens the depth gauge goes to 1.6 ft and doesn't recover without turning the unit off and then on again. Anyone have any suggestions on how to fix this?

Welcome to the Humminbird Side Imaging Forums minerdoug.

First, check your unit to see what software version your 596c HD DI unit running.  Update it if needed as I believe that version 6.690 is the latest.  Be sure to reset the menus back to the factory default settings by using the Restore Defaults menu.

Do you know of anyone else that has a Humminbird DI model unit that you could cross-test units with? This will help determine whether the problem is in the unit or transducer/boat.

You register your unit on the Humminbird web site and download the software update from your “My Humminbird” account to your computer.  You will then have to use the HumminbirdPC Connection Kit cables to update the software in your 596c HD DI unit since it does not have a memory card reader in it.  Instructions will come with the connection cables.
