The more I look around at everyone elses shots I think I'm fine.
Just had someone ask the question and made me wonder.
any way what do you think of the shots?

2D can pixelate as you increase your unit's Chart-Speed settings.  More so on older units and newer software.

Yours is pretty good.

Might have figured it out, ping speed, chart speed and actual speed. ;)

Sent the unit in and they sent it back said nothing wrong but put the new update into it.
When I got it back I hooked it up and still the same thing. I called them and told them I wanted to talk to a supervisor and one called me back. Told her all my problems and she told me they knew these things were going on and were going to have a software update in the future to fix these problems.

Yeahhhh.
Also told me to change a few settings and not to use 2 on chart speed and di sharpness. Stay in clear mode; and 60 feet or less water stay in 83 khz beam select. Fish id sens on 7.
This made a huge difference on my unit
So glad I don't have to settle for mediocre.
No more pixelation.
Thanks

Damn, that's a lot of workaround.  I never would have found that Fish ID setting!
But congrats

Some combination of settings must have caused a jump around all those new improved sonar algorithms and improved the code-path.

I thought "any" combination of "Beam Select" using the 83khz was what is causing a lot of the image quality issues in the newer software versions...??

Any 83khz sonar selection causes image problems in recordings.

It is quite a work around but it did work for now and that made me happy; at least tip they get a fix.
But what I don't understand is if they are working on it why couldn't they tell me this the first time I called so I wouldn't have to send it in.

I don't know about the 83 khz deal yet but as soon as I get it back on the water I will get some more screen caps to post.

Any 83khz sonar selection causes image problems in recordings.

I will keep that in mind and play with it.
thanks

Brand new unit just bought it in July
New 598 owner. Out three times. Was pleased that got good display at all speeds. Until yesterday; suddenly I get weak, almost faded signals. First two images show what I saw running back to ramp (stopped and checked transducer to be sure it had not kicked up; looked just like before).
The next images were from short while before running slow. The only thing I can imagine different is that I had tried to start recording (first attempt). What can I do?

Try the settings from above. I will look at my notes and see if there was any thing else.
They are supposed to be working on a fix! :-\
