Title: 858cx and lowrance lvr-880 gps problem
Post by: Hellman on April 27, 2013, 10:51:12 AM
hi

i have worked all day to connect my Humminbird Antenna AS GRP GPS gr50 to my Lowrance lvr-880 vhf  with no luck or is it i am misstaking that i can use the antenna as standalone gps for my vhf radio .. ??

on the gps antenn i have the new pigtail connection with one with,black and green cable

[attach=1]

and how i read it it tells me that the green wire should give me nmea data to my vhf radio directly with out powering up my plotter or even have it connected in the boat..

Or am i wrong ?? but i if i am right do anyone know how to connect the gps antenna to my radio ??

thx

Green should be NMEA (+) Output and Black should be NMEA Ground.  This should work without being connected to a unit as others have done so.

How are you powering the GPS Receiver if you don’t have a unit connected to it?
