Title: New 788ci hd di
Post by: SkeeterMatt on December 21, 2011, 09:50:24 PM
My new 788ci hd di is not displaying the left side of the combo view split sonar screen where it should be showing the 455 reading. It's just a white screen. It has the 5.84 software.

What should I do?
signed,
dissapointed by hb again

I bought an 1198c and powered it up to only a white screen and ended having to send it back and had a new working unit within a few days. The thing about Humminbird is the service is great and will make things right quickly. So don't be too let down. the Lowrance service department is terrible. I had an HDS 10 and side imaging unit and had problem after problem, and could get little to no help.... ended up returning it and went back to humminbird. my friends also broke and it took 6 months for lowrance to get it back to him and it worked for 4 more months and quit and now in trash and replace by Humminbird. So it could be worse. Hope im wrong but it sounds like you may have a bad screen as i did. Good Luck.

thanks for the reply Josh. i'm glad you got yours working.
i guess it's a given that humminbird has great customer service as i had to send my 998 in for repairs too.
this unit is right out of the box. this is about the only 800-2000 dollar item i can think of that people seem to think it's ok if it doesn't work properly.
if i do have to send it back, i think hb should pay for the shipping.

They will if you ask them to but it will be in the form of a pre-paid shipper label that they will have to mail to you to.  Come to think of it: they may be able to e-mail you something… call and ask them as they know more about it than I do!  :D

Does the 455kHz sonar work in the full screen View?
Are you going to send back the unit and the transducer or just one?  I would send back both just to be sure.

thanks Greg, i will have to take the transucer off the trolling motor to send it back. that may be the problem though. i'm going to take the booat out again after Christmas and see if I can do something different to get it to work.
