The aluminum boat I have came with a Lowrance x50ds depth finder. It is just good enough to make me want a nice sonar system for my boat. Two months ago I bought a humminbird 898csi and installed it in the place of the lowrance x50. It has worked flawlessly ever since. A few weeks ago I decided to install my lowrance x50 on the trolling motor for shallow water trolling. This is where the trouble begins. As soon as the lowrance boots up the 898 goes haywire. I have full interference on the 898 screen making it unusable as long as the lowrance is turned on. As soon as I shut the lowrance down the 898 works perfectly. The engineers at humminbird say that the two sonars are unfortunately for me, operating on the same frequency, and that there isn't a cure for this. I know alot of you have two sonars on the same boat. My question here is; have any of you experienced this problem and does anybody have a cure for this? Thanks, Bill.

Welcome to the forum. Some units work fine together with little or no interference, and some don't as you have found out!
Do you have the Noise Filter turned on? There are several different settings: Low, Med, High1, High2, and High3. Try them all with the Lowrance turned on and see it helps any.
Also, try turning the 83khz off (200khz only) on the Humminbird unit and turn the lowrance to 83khz and see if that does anything. That should turn off the 200khz on the lowrance which is probably causing the problem.

Thanks for the welcome Robert. The noise filter is on and set on low. I will try the other settings and see if they make a difference. This only happens on downscan and switchfire. Sidescan is unaffected by the lowrance. Probably the frequency difference. Next time I go fishing I will experiment with the frequency as well and see what happens. Thanks, Bill.
