Title: 898c si transducer ???
Post by: slabmaster on March 08, 2010, 03:54:44 PM
Can you use the transom transducer that a 858c uses with a Y cable for running on plane? I have a Bullet bass boat and to use the in hull xp 9 20 transducer the gas tank will have to be pulled to install.

Yes you can use the transom mounted DualBeam XNT-9-20-T transducer along with an AS-Si-DB-Y cable with an 898c Si unit.  I understand about having to pull the gas tank but my concern with a transom transducer mounted on a light weight bass boat is that it would create instability at high speeds which could lead to a disastrous wreck.

Slabmaster, Really study the areas available for you for a thru-hull transducer. Look around in your bilge area for a spot in the very back that will still be in contact with the water when that bullet is flying. If you can avoid the 2D transom mount you will probably be happier.
