Temperature Reading on an 899 Side Imaging Unit
« on: July 21, 2018, 12:53:50 PM »
A very interesting problem.  The last two times out fishing the temperature reading would not stay steady, jumping from 25 to 95 degrees.  After each trip, with boat in driveway, I turned unit on and it read air temp correctly and when transducer was submerged in water it also read steady and correctly.  Even put an ice cube on transducer and temp dropped slowly and steady and when ice was removed temp rose slowly and steady.

 Any ideas?

You might try Restore Defaults under the Setup tab  ...

Also you might remove the cable collector and disassemble the cables from the plastic collector  ... Then plug the cable directly into the head unit and test  ...

If neither of the above work - the temp channel/probe could be failing in the xducer  ...

Rickie, the problem was not a good connection with transducer cable.  Everything working good.  Thanks for response to the post.
I got into some really good largemouth the last two times out.  It was about time, I thought they had organized a strike against me (ha ha).

Very good  ...

I still don't like the quick connections - too many intermittent issues  ...
