setting while mounted on trolling motor?
« on: January 20, 2011, 08:27:13 PM »
what are the best settings for SI when the transducer is mounted on the trolling motor? Since the trolling motor goes 360.  i plan on split screening it 3 ways....using SI/DI and standard sonar.

DitchPickler,

Welcome to the forum.  The settings are pretty much going to be the same for everything even when mounted on the trolling motor.  You will just have to adjust your chart speed down to around 1 or 2.  You basically want to try to match you boat speed and chart speed.

It will be hard to maintain good SI images when turning and you will probably be using the 2d and DI more so while fishing.

Great info fellas! I figured DI would be best with a slower chart speed. Never thought about using only one side SI. Makes alot of sense though. I'll be fishing 40+ ft of water for smallies out in the open. So there wont be any banks close by. But ill fiddle with the settings and report back with what worked best. Thanks for the tips!
