Hi all,
I have an XTM 9 SI 180 T which Humminbird says is only for the 797 and 798 but it is a really small compact unit, will it work with my 998 ? There is no 800kHz signal but not sure what I will lose because of that, will it just only work to less depth?
Thanks for any input

Welcome to the Humminbird Side Imaging Forums action-andy.
Yes the XTM-9-Si-180-T transducer will work with your 998 unit. What you will be giving up is the 800kHz Si/Di sonar frequency and less detail in the 455kHz Si/Di sonar.

Thanks Greg, what will that mean visually/practically when I am fishing

Well I don’t think that most people use the 800kHz while fishing so that may not be a loss for you. However the 455kHz Si sonar will be less detailed, less “crisp” in appearance which may or may not affect your style of fishing.

Here is a comparison shot of the 455kHz vs the 800kHz ...

I use the 455kHz in searching for new structure because the image is brighter all the way to the edges of the display ...but fuzzier
I use the 800kHz when I want to get a closer more detailed view of things I found with the 455kHz ...
