Now you can download previous Software/Firmware Updates for your SI unit.  Visit the Software Download Section (http://forums.sideimagingsoft.com/index.php?board=46.0) for updates.  You will need to be logged in to view the Downloads.

Robert,

I bought a 798ciSI last week and got a copy of the most recent firmware from Humminbird.
I used their HumminbirdPC software to upload the new firware. Uploading started normally with a Progress bar on the screen of the 798 but at some point (about 22000 bytes) HumminbirdPC showed a "Firmware Error" window and stopped. I resetted the 798 but the original firmware seems to have disappeared from the unit. I now have a screen entitled "Matrix Series Boot" with a series of tests. All the tests were OK except the Program test. When I connect to HumminbirdPC, the program does not recognize the unit model and serial number nor the software version number. Any idea I can try?

I take it you were using the PC Cable is that right?  It is recommended for units with the card slot to update via SD card. 

Put the firmware on the SD card and put it in the card slot on the 798.  Turn the unit on and it should automatically detect the new firmware version.  Follow the instructions, making sure not to cut the unit off until the update is done.

If, it does not recognise it, you may need to send your unit in for repair.

I already tried to install the software from the SD card and it did not work. I will send the unit for repair. Thanks.

Since you already have the PC Connect cables try this: connect everything back up just like you had originally done to update the units software.  Try using the Program menu in the unit and at the same time try the Program function in HumminbirdPC.  I have not tried this with the new version of HumminbirdPC yet but I know that it will only sometimes work with the older version of HumminbirdPC.
