Can you re-play video on a helix
« on: February 01, 2019, 04:48:18 PM »
I have videos on my helix but when I play them nothing happens.  The bar says it's playing but I see no SI or DI video.  In fact when I go through my views the only two that show up are my GPS view and my Recordings view.

Do I need to be connected to a transducer to be able to watch videos on my Helix?

The set up I have right now is, I just have head connected to a deep cycle 12 volt battery and nothing else.

Suggestions anyone?

Connecting an xducer is not necessary for viewing recordings on the unit  ...

Did you try playing the recording in Simulator mode  ...??

Okay so this weekend I tried putzing with the simulator and that works.  All the views are available on the unit.  However once I go to normal mode the only views I have available are the GPS views and the Recording view.  When I play the video I can watch my boat icon follow the path in GPS but no views of SI or DI are available. AT ALL... On a hunch I went out to my garage and dug out my old transducer I took off the boat to install the helix. It's for a Humminbird 587 ci HD.  Which has no SI or DI whatsoever.  Anyway i plugged it into the back of my unit and the sure enough there were my SI and DI views.  AND when I play the recording back I can see them.  AND it's playing the video's HumViewer will not for some reason.  So it's not the video thats the issue with HumViewer it HumViewer that's the issue. And the detail is way better on the helix than in humviewer.  Now I need to figure out how to snap pictures of what i'm seeing so I can study them and figure out what I'm looking at when I'm on the water.

For ScreenShots there must be a SD card in the unit and then press and hold the Mark button (approx 3 seconds) to save a ScreenShot to the SD card  ...

The ScreenShot can be viewed in the SnapShot and Recording view as long as the SD card is physically still in the unit  ...

ScreenShots (and recordings) are written directly to the SD card in HELIX (and older numbered series units)  ...

SOLIX (and ONIX) can write ScreenShots to an inserted SD card or into the unit internal unit memory  ...
