I tried to upgrade my 360 last weekend to no avail. I tried putting the downloaded file on my card and it didn't take. I tried putting the file in the Matrix file and that didn't work. I need to know the exact procedure that I need to do in order to get the upgrade to take.
Thanks in advance

Phil,
I think that the directions for updating the 360 are on the Humminbird web site when you download the software. I don’t have one registered so I can’t check what they are but basically you download the software to the memory card and install the memory card just like you do for your 1198 unit. I think that the 360 has to be on for this and the software in your unit should be updated first, but check the Humminbird web site to be sure.

The I-Link and 1198 software are up to date and I followed the directions from the Humminbird site. I have downloaded the 360 software a couple of times and I still can" get it to upgrade so I figured that I must be doing something wrong.

I just updated my 360 about an hour ago. It took awhile (a few minutes) for the head unit to recognize the 360, then install the update. At first, I couldn't get it to recognize the update, then took the lakemaster card out and I switched the update card to the other card slot and turned the unit back on. it then found the update.
Not sure it is a factor, but you can try to power up in simulator mode, or normal mode (whichever you weren't in before) to see if that helps.

I finally got it to work. I started with a blank formatted card and I put on all of the current uploads for the 1998, i-Link, i-Link remote and the 360. I removed all of the cards in the 1198 and started it in the house. I started it in the normal mode and it started by upgrading the 1198 software. I had the current upgrade in the 1198 but because I started with a blank card it did not have the Matrix file on it so it reloaded the upgrade file. Next I hooked everything up on the boat and when I booted the 1198 it loaded in the upgrade software for everything as it was found. I am back in the game. :) :)

;D. Upgrading always makes me nervous.

Scrutch:
I'm sure anybody who upgrades their software has their fingers and legs crossed. It's a stressful event, and never gets any easier.
Nobody wants to send their unit back in, if they can help it.

Old thread, but thank you for posting. Mine would not update either. I switched the card slots and it upgraded as I had the latest version in my unit, I didn't want to mess with trying to re-update it. The left slot wouldn't work, but the right slot took the update right away. For those reading this later, try the other slot in your unit as re-updating the unit to the same firmware wasn't required for me.
