Just wanted to introduce myself, as I'm new to this site. I will be ordering a new boat in March and will have a Humminbird 1198 si installed. With that being said, I know less than nothing about fish finders, but want to learn from the best, so here I am.... I will be ordering a 2011 Premier Cast-a-way 231 PTX package boat with a Minn Kota 101 Terrova i-Pilot, and every other bell and whistle available. My 8 year old Grandson would rather fish than eat, and I want good equipment to put both of us on good fishing spots. We will mainly be fishing Lake Conroe just North of Houston, TX. and I appreciate any experience and / or advice that you may wish to offer. Thank you in advance, for your help.

Welcome to the forum. Best thing to do is start reading as much as you can. Check out the FAQ section, the Articles and Tutorials and the What is Side Imaging forum.
Once you get your unit I am sure you will have a few questions.
