Topic: ION side imaging transducer

Hi All
I want to buy an ION but I have some questions in my mind!
I want to buy SM3000 to use transducer of airmar which is R111LH. It has low and high range but on the advertisement of Humminbird, it shows that low range is for to scan sturacture of very deep depth and medium range wich is among 80 to 130 khz is for to scan big fish as tuna and swordfish. So wont I able to scan big fish at low range signals like 50 Khz?

The second qoestion is;
I heard that the  Humminbird XB-SSI Bronze Thru-Hull Side Imaging transducers make us able to scan at higher speeds. But as I know it is not a new transducer but the new SI transducers have a separate piezo element for the DI sonar. So I dont think Humminbird XB-SSI Bronze Thru-Hull Side Imaging transducer has it! is it better to use new SI transducer instead of bronze ones? are Bronze si transducer have the same depth reading capacity of new ones Which is 117 meters or bronze can only reads until 50 meters?

I don’t know enough about the CHIRP sonar to answer your question.

The XB-SSI transducers are just the same Si sonar in another package.  Not sure where you’ve heard that they will allow for scans at higher speeds unless this is in reference to being able to position the transducers on some boats such that they will be in non-aerated water at faster boats speeds when compared to other Si transducer mounts.  The DI piezo element is in the starboard side XB-SSI transducer.
