898 to 1798

I plan to try this out on the boat. I have a 17" Video Monitor I am going to mount on my console to see how it works. What do you think?

I think it is a great idea, but how are you going to keep it from being damaged by the water?  Also how much power is it pulling?

I have an 1197 and would still like a larger screen, what would be nice is to have to screens on to display the mapping system and the SI imaging.

Some of the mobile video sites for car audio have weather proof monitors...Ive used them before doing installs for truck beds when I was in competition..You cant "splash or wash them down" but if installed right say behind a windscreen and are removable you should be fine...They draw minimal power, all of my electronics and livewell pump run off a dedicated battery, i have an 898c and 1198c and have been on the water for 11 hours running all and have had no problems.

I went to my backyard yesterday evening while the sun was still up to see how well I could see the 17" monitor screen in the sun light here are the results.
