Are U.S Humminbirds now Geo-Fenced
« on: July 02, 2011, 05:01:19 PM »
Is this true ? Can Greg comfim this !  What is Geo- fencing ?   There may be a small message on the bottom of the gps screen saying that this unit is not designed for use outside of the US. They do it to protect their overseas dealers.

This info was from a dealer in the States saying they have stopped sending Lowrance and HB products overseas due to this reason

What is geo-fensing.
In a nutshell, it is an alarm that when you get within a preset distance from a location the unit will establish a different display showing you a fense (usually a different background color) around the preset location.
It might be helpful,

But in the other hand it might not be... if you buy your unit from the States and you live in Australia or Europe the unit might  flash a warning over the GPS screen saying  that this unit is not designed for use outside of the US...If this is true and all new units have this then maybe any updates may have Geo- fencing  built in

No, our products do not employ any sort of geo-fencing for the GPS.  The Domestic (U.S.) version units do not have all of the Time Zones, languages, and metric measurements available in them but that does not stop the GPS from working.
