Hello all I have a question, I am in need of a new transducer for matrix 37 since i need to buy a new one is there one made for another unit that will work better than the one made for this unit? i am also running 587ci HD DI Combo so is there one that will be compatible with he 587 as well as the matrix 37?

The XNT-9-QB-90-T QuadraBeam transducer is still the best option for the Matric 37 unit.
No, there are no transducers that will work with both the 587ci HD DI model and Matrix model units without taking away some of the sonar capabilities of at least one of these units. The DI model units are different in the way they work and the frequencies they use versus the rest of our products.

For the transom Bill, the XNT-9-QB-90-T is the only one that will allow the Matrix 37 to use its side beams. You could use a less expensive DualBeam transducer XNT-9-20-T, It has the same 2D sonar as the Quadrabeam transducer but it does not have the two additional wide sonar beams,

If you can afford it and if you find it interesting the M37 can show sidescan images with the more expensive HDSi or compact sidescan transducers. The results cannot compete with what you get with a dedicated sideimaging unit, though.
(If you are interested in sidescanning your DI unit can probably work as a one-sided sideimaging unit if the DI transducer is rotated to the left or right about 60 degrees from vertical (same as 30 degrees from horizontal). I have not seen any images from such experiments, but there are positive reports somewhere in the forum.)

Bill, I think the HXS-9-HDSi-180-T is overkill. The low pixel resolution in the sideviews on the M37 display means the M37 can't use the full potential in that transducer. The XNT-9-SI-180 will probably be good enought. Note, the M37 won't show fish arcs in the sideviews with a sideimaging transducer because the beams are so narrow. The beams can be widened to show fish by covering most of the sides of the transducer with something sound-stopping. Thus, even the big HXS-9-HDSi-180-T can be modified so it behaves like a Quadbeam transducer - the type that came with the M37.

Richard if i was to get the Xhs 9 Hdsi 180 T even though its over kill will it work with the 587 ci hd di fishfinder I also have?

Bill, I'm not familiar with the 587. I think the functions of the connector pins in the DI units and the SI units (and the M37) differ, which could mean they must use different transducers. This is a typical Greg issue. I would only trust his answer to your question.

It would not Bill without a menu change. In shallow water the DI model units utilize the DI sonar for water depth. A way around this is to set the Digital Depth Source menu to the “2D” setting and use a basic 200kHz transducer (like the 200kHz sonar in the XHS-9-HDSi-180-T transducer). With this menu setting the 587ci HD DI unit will use the 200kHz 20 degree sonar beam to determine water depth but it’s DI sonar will be connected to the right Si sonar beam of the HDSi transducer. So while you will get some DI sonar it will not be straight down under the boat but be from the right side of the boat.
