New to forum and probably arookie question!
« on: July 02, 2012, 09:24:39 PM »
Gentleman,
Hummingbird referred me to this site and thank God they did bc you guys are awealth of knowledge when irt comes to this stuff. I just moved my 597 ci hd di to my bow, to make room for a 898, and today was the first time on the water with it. Ok, so with it mounted on the TM, I get great imaging until I'm in the 4to6 ft range then when I give juice to the TM I lose my readings.  I triedifferent speeds and brand with no prevail. Any ideas? Thank you ahead of time for your input!
Keenan

Keenan,
What water depths does the unit work well at when using the trolling motor?  (Does it work deeper than or shallower than 4 to 6 feet deep?)

Does this happen at all trolling motor speeds used or just at some?

When you say that “when I give juice to the TM I lose my readings” is this in the 2D sonar or in the DI sonar?

What Beam Select menu setting have you tried: 200kHz or 455kHz or both?

What is the Surface Clutter menu setting you are using?

No, the Sensitivity setting would not cause the unit to not track the bottom correctly.
Check and see what software version the unit is running - this can be seen on the Self Test View which you will have to set to "Visible" (in the Views menu tab).  I would guess that your 597ci HD DI is running an older software and it needs to be updated.

Oh, make sure that this is not only happening when the 898c Si or another sonar unit is on.
