I installed the older version of humminbirdpc, but find I cannot save the waypoint or route data that I uploaded from a smc card. This data was from my Helix7. I tried to install the newer humminbird pc but that does not install on my windows7 pc. This was all tried in the last few weeks.
I appreciate any help you can provide.

Can you explain the "data not being saved" ...?
Is the data not even loading into HBPC from the SD card ...??
What is "smc" card ...?? (HB units utilize SD or SDHC cards up to 32gb) ...

I am able to upload from the sd card, but unable to save the data. I also see some odd things such as only 2 of my 4 routes show up, and some waypoints have a bunch of odd character prefixes. This is with the currently available older version of hummonbird pc. The newer pc version will not install on my windows 7 tower. I tried repeatedly.
I do have a older pc version on a laptop that worked with data from my old humminbird unit . I have not tried to use the helix data on that laptop.
Thanks again for helping.

Is the gpx file is loading into the left pane of HBPC ...??
Can you click on the Plus sign (+) to the left of the gpx file in the left pane of HBPC ...??
Can you click on the "Waypoints" subfolder in the file tree under the gpx file ...??
Are the waypoints populating in the right pane of HBPC after clicking the "Waypoints" subfolder ...??
If so ...:
Then go here and see if the same gpx file is present in "My Computer/Documents/My Humminbird PC/GPX files" ...

I see no + to the left. I tried to open my gpx files from my older humminbird----failed to load.
I am able to upload the waypoints and 2 of the 4 routes from my helix7. When I try to save the data, it returns" improper latitude value". The files on the sd card from my helix are labeled as helix7si_GPS_v7_780.bin.
I tried twice to save those from the helix with same results.

Correction, my data file is data.hwr. I still have the latest Helix 7 version on that card.

Sorry for all the questions ... I'm not fully understanding the scenario here ...
Can you open the SD card in My Computer/Drive "x" (your SD card reader drive) ...??
Is there a folder on the SD card titled "MATRIX" (with a file inside labeled "data.hwr") ...??

Sorry for being confusing, juggling too many balls last few days. Yes, the sd card has the data.hwr file inside a matrix folder.
I have reinstalled the 2.x hmpc a couple times with same results. That (hwr) uploads to hmpc ok, but Unable to save the data due to latitude error. I have even tried to name it similiar to the older .gpx files that originated on my defunct 797 unit. I am unable to open those (.gpx) on the hmpc installed on my tower. I used them (gpx) numerous times on my old laptop which runs win7 home. I copied them to the tower to use as well.
I did load google earth prior to hmpc, maybe that is causing a issue. Have not tried earth as yet.

Well, I just did load the old .gpx files to the 2.5 hmpc. . This is since reinstalling hmpc.

So is your issue now fixed ...??

No.
I wish this application to allow me to see both the gpx files and the hwr files without having to connect the sd card. I have copied the hwr file to the same location where the gpx are, but hwpc ignores the hwr.
I should be able to upload the hwr from the sd card and then be able to save that data into a location on the pc where hwpc can then open that saved file.
Again, when I try to save the data, I get a latitude error.
Is there a secret name required?
Is there a way to recreate the hwr into .gpx?

I got rid of hmpc 2.5 and downloaded v4.5. This resolved my issue.
Thanks for trying to help.
