Since the 1198 is a beast and like watching TV for sonar / GPS I wonder if adding a Radar array/dome is in the works or close. It would be awesome to add this to Humminbird 800-900-1100 series units. I have to say for Kingfishing with my buddies on their boats it comes in handy when spotting birds diving on bait. They all use either Garmin or Raymarine, but they definately are jealous when we use my SI. Just a thought.

I have the XM weather radar on mine. Nothing but awsome!!!! A must tool for being on the water and being able to follow the storms while out on a day of fishing or boating.

I looked into that and it looked cool, but, I'd like to have the radar without paying a monthly fee. I use an app on my phone now for actual weather. What do you pay each month, when I looked there were two levels of subscription a basic and enhanced?

The XM satellite weather option is a one time 14.95 startup fee and 9.95 a month.
Some phone plans cost an additional $30 a month just to be able to use the internet, so from that point of view, it is cheaper.

Hi,
Have you looked at the Geonav products? They have Radar and Sideimaging and are either owned by Humminbird or at least connected to them. I personally don't have any knowledge of their products (I live in MN) - their stuff appears to be geared towards saltwater applications.
Just a thought,

GeoNav is a sister company to us and is also owned by Johnson Outdoors, Inc. I believe that Robert and Chuck saw some of these units when they visited here a while back.

Yes we did and are now hungry with anticipation of availability of the function. Radar would be very nice.

I've had the Sirius XM weather a few weeks now and I think it awesome.
It displays in a block style (the edges of colored areas are flat and square).
But, it's very precise.

Which plan did you get, i looked before and there were a couple different options....I was going to get another display and radar dome, but the cost of equipment and then having the added weight to my T-top put me off on that idea.
