Do the latest updates 5.4--  address the problems some people have had when using an interlink, or do I need to wait longer before updating?

I would call HB and discuss your exact model units and software versions before changing anything. Take a look at my post in the accessory forum to see what i have gone through with the interlink problem.

Why wait when a new update comes out use it. HB engineers make updates for a reason.
Plus they know more than we do. Gary

If the units are being run independently then i totally agree with you stillbear. My brand new interlink is at humminbird right now being fixed because i downloaded the most up to date software for my 798 and 787 and then hooked up the interlink. There are some software issues between some models that has not currently been resolved with the up to date software.

There is a beta software that fixes the problem but you don't know about it until you call HB.

Rocketman783,
Yes the 5.410 software for the 798 is supposed to address the InterLink issue but your other unit needs to also have software that is higher than the 5.310 version.

I’ve been told that there is a recommended way to load the software if you have been having InterLink issues:
 - Disconnect both units from the InterLink.
 - Update both units with the new software and power them off.
 - Connect the unit that was connected to the Port 1 connector on the InterLink back to the InterLink on that same port.
 - Power this unit on and allow it time to update the software on the InterLink.
 - Once this has completed you should be able to connect and power on the second unit.
For the most part I have been hearing that the new software loaded in this way works.  There are some that have to reset their InterLink and yet a few that have to send their InterLink in to be looked at.

Call Humminbird if the above does not work.
