I seem to remember someone tried rotating the DownScan transducer at an angle to see if it might be used as a "look ahead" sonar of sorts. I can't find the post for the life of me. Anyone else remember this or have a picture of what it might look like?

I have not seen that but there are several post about rotating a HDSI to get better down-images.

It is possible to "aim" any xducer in any direction ... You just have to know how to interpret the echoes on the display ...
Vik3 has been doing this for a while now ...

Thanks Rickie. That thread is even more interesting than the one I was thinking about. Apparently he swept the transducer back and forth 180 degrees to get the resulting images. Interesting...

Correct he is sweeping the xducer ...
I'm sure Vik will check in soon ... He has some unique ideas for sure ...
