Side imaging freezing up after update.
« on: May 18, 2019, 06:40:46 AM »
Helix 9 mega si gps g2n, 7 di gps g2n, and 9 di gps g2n networked together. Si freezes up since the latest update. After a minute or so it starts moving again. Also also my 2d high speed ducer is not always reading on plane. I’m using the mega y cable. That worked fine last year, only thing different is I replaced an 898 with the helix 7. Could the updates have anything to do with that not always reading?

All 3 have latest software. 1.9, 1.9, and 2.0. I’m not sure if I restored defaults after on all the graphs.

I restored defaults and I think that fixed the freezing up, but still not always reading 2d on plane. It worked first time I was on plane, but every time after, nothing. I recently raised my motor 1/2”, could that have anything to do with it?

It is possible that raising the motor could have the hull riding on pad different than before  ...

Is the 2d xducer in the bilge or on the transom  ...?? (Sounds like it needs repositioning)  ...

It is in the bilge, been there for years with no problems. I plugged the 2d ducer directly into the 7 and will see if it works there. Maybe the mega y cable isn’t working.?

That's possible  ... It is difficult to fully seat the xducer connector into the Y cable  ...

Plugging the 2d ducer into the 7 didn’t work. Actually didn’t show any sonar that way, but not sure if I had the correct settings for sonar to use it that way. I chose generic 2d but sonar was blank. Anyway I reconnected the 2d cable back to the y cable and it worked just about whole day. I have it seated all the way, just seams like a little bit of play in it while seated. Probably just have to settle for it working here and there. When my 2d sonar does work, it doesn’t show bottom very good no matter what I do with sensitivity and such. My bow unit works great under default settings. Don’t have to mess with the settings. Although since last update my bow unit shows no di. Screen is black. I don’t use the di much but frustrating that nothing works right.

You might try adding enough water into the bulge to cover the xducer and test on the water  ...

The epoxy may have failed and allowed an air pocket to form between the xducer and the hull  ...
