Title: 797 c si interlink and gps compatible with 800 &900 series SI units
Post by: eric3338 on May 21, 2010, 09:18:09 PM
Have a 797 unit now and was wanting to know if it is compatable with the 800 SI and 900 SI units.  does it have the power to run the gps 50 .  My 797 has built in nvb maps also.  What should I be watching out for if upgrading the unit and wanting them to talk to each other.   I also read that the map cards take up the memory slots.  Is this true .  If i do this I don't want any surprises.

I don't know about your power question, but both of my units have two card slots each, so using a map card and a memory card at the same time is not an issue.

I have a 797Csi interlinked with a 997csi  The 797 only has one card slot.  networking the units only allows you to share waypoints and data from other accessories like the Weathersense.  It also allows you to use one GPS puck for both units.  However, the Map card data is not shared between units so you'll still have to have a map card for each or switch them between units.

I have my 797 on the bow and the 997 at the console.  I have two Lakemaster MN chips and keep an MMC card in the 997 for recordings.  If I see something on the 797 that I want to record, I go back and do it on the 997.

SPECIAL NOTE:  Some people (me included) that have the side imaging unit on the bow with a MK 101lb max-pro trolling motor have trouble with interference from the trolling motor.  I've been trying to get this fixed for over two years.  It's better now but still an irritant given the money spent!

so the 797 will use the 50gps unit ok?  Thanks you pretty much answered my question.  Can you tell a difference in the emages of the two units over the same terrain?
