Helix 10 Transducer Network Settings
« on: June 14, 2018, 12:41:24 PM »
I have two Helix 10 mega chirp SI G2N units installed and connected together via Ethernet. One bow and one console. Bow unit had transducer mounted on trolling motor and console transducer is mounted on transom. I had to remove the bow transducer to prevent damage from shallow water conditions. I have transducer tucked under deck but is still connected to bow head unit.

Since the water is mostly 1 to 8 feet deep I don't need see the need for 2d or DI function at the bow. Is there a setting combination the will allow SI at the bow head unit and 2d and DI and the console unit both from the transom transducer without fear of damaging the bow transducer. Or is the fear of transducer damage unfounded? Would turning off chirp and or mega help with preventing transducer damage if potential damage is a reality?

Would I need to toggle sonar off between the units before making any networking changes?

A trolling motor transducer guard would be nice but I cannot find one that looks like it would work. My previous transducer was much smaller and was well guarded. This transducer is so big I only have about an inch of space left for a guard.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

BTW, I have same issue as others on both units with depth display not matching the charted depth. Kind of a nuisance...

On the bow unit - Turn Sonar Off under the power Xpress Menu (1 short power button press)  ...

This shuts off the Sonar transmitters in the bow unit  ... while still allowing the bow unit to share all Sonar technologies (and waypoints) from the console unit  ...
-----

For the erratic depth issue - try setting the Beam Frequency selection under the Sonar tab to "High" only (or selection 200kHz only if CHIRP is turned off)  ...
