Deleting Autochart map from internal memory
« on: May 01, 2016, 07:29:31 PM »
I posted this on http://autochart.forumotion.com/ with no luck, thought I would check out on here.

When mapping, I notice that when I turn too fast or go through bubbles from the previous path that I get an erroneous depth and a black area. I would have thought that just going back over it would correct it but it does not. How does the priority of repeated tracks work? Does it Overwrite it or Blend it? What is the easiest way to clean it up as I go?

I can go to Autochart Live/Show Raw Data, close menu, Zoom in on Data points, go back to Autochart menu and hit delete, close out menu and repeat for every single data point, but this will take 40 forevers.

I know I have a few bad data point because my transducer got kicked up during mapping. So I really don't know what is a good or bad point. I would just as well delete the whole map and start over. Surely there is a method for this?

Very painfully I was deleting this map point by point when I noticed that all of the mapping that I had created doesn't show up completely. It will pop up as I move my cursor to that area. The area I move from then disappears. I guess it doesn't show up across the map seams?

Reply From HB CS.  :-\

"Thank you for contacting Humminbird Customer Service.

The unit should "dump" the internal map to the ZeroLine card once inserted. If this occurs and you have the AutoChart or AutoChart program, you may delete sections of the map if necessary. Otherwise, the internal map with AutoChart live cannot be deleted until you have used the entire 8 hours of recording time."

This might help some.  I know it is for doing it in AutoChart Pro but you will get the idea.

the new version of AutoChart allows you to import the exported data from  your internal unit .. edit with the software and reimport back into the LIVE unit

Instead using your Unit to edit the data, try with the AutoChart PC

Have you actually tried this? I can take Map card and SD card out of unit and it still resides internally.  There is no list or option to delete internal map (only segments). I do not have PC or Pro to try it.  If it resides internally, and you reload the altered map that was created, does it overwrite the internal map? Will the unit know which one you want to keep? Seem like it would just overlay the overlay.

Deleting on unit looks similar as done in PC, but maybe a larger area can be deleted on PC.

Here is what you have to do on the Onix to delete:
(Delete option only shows up when you select Raw Data)
Cursor over segment to be deleted (can't be zoomed too far out)
Go to Chart menu/Autochart Live/Delete
Close drop down menu/ move cursor to next spot to be deleted and repeat to Chart menu/AutoChart Live/Delete

It was a lesson learned. Be deliberate, go slow, wide turns and straight lines.

when you complete to edit the data with Autochart PC.

you need to save it back to the SD Card and there is an option (as explained from the new Help of autochart pc)  on the unit menu to re-import and internal data with all LIVE units.

I have erased data from my zero line card but not from Auto Chart Live.  I would suggest that instead of just buying a zero line card you wait until you can swing Auto chart pro PC.  Auto Chart Pro PC comes with a zero line card.   What ever you do before anything else,  BACKUP the files that are on the zero Line card.  You might even make a couple of backups.  This way if you screw up (we all do ) then you can recover.

Thanks everyone.
I do not mind buying the AutoChart Pro or Zero Line Card. Just trying to understand Onix & Lakemaster functions. It will be 2 wks before I get back to Onix in my hands.

Chart/AutoChart Live/Show Raw Data- it gives me the option to save Internal, SD Card 1 or 2. It will not let me choose SD Card 1 & 2.  Maybe the Zero Line will allow to choose SD 1or 2 and not save it internally. The only export feature I see is waypoints, tracks, routes, & menu settings. Does it let you name and export each individual map you create? I have multiple mappings internally, I do not recall seeing a map name name or a request to name it when I stopped mapping (maybe I missed it?) I also do not see a list of the mappings. So how would I know what map I was exporting?

Update your Unit software to latest if you do not see the export options for internal maps. You should see it in some way because Helix 9 and up have those great options
