Help with downloading updates.
« on: February 21, 2016, 02:21:36 PM »
Now don't give me any grief as I have read all the FAQ's and any other info I could find concerning downloading updates. I went to MYHUMMINBIRD,com and brought up my info on my depth finders and downloaded to SD cards per instructions. Even printed out the instructions just in case. Here are the steps I followed: I have a 859ci DI on thge bow and a 899ciDI SI on the console.

Purchased 2 PNY performance 4GB SD cards.
Formatted SD cards on my computer.
Labeled cards per depth finder.
Went to MYHUMMINBIRD and brought up my info.
Downloaded the latest update to the correct SD card.
Went to my boat and turned on the 859 unit.
After unit powered up and went thru the normal start-up I went to MEMU and "Restored Defaults".
Turned unit off the powered it back up.
After it (859) went thru the start=up and warning I pressed it exit button and inserted the correct SD card.
And NOTHING happened!
After several minutes of nothing I ejected the SD cards and turned the unit off.
I then went thru the same steps again and still, NOTHING.
Afraid to try anything with the 899 unit at this time.

What am I doing wrong?

Nela.

Just noticed that the SD cards say 45 minute HD video. Am I using the right SD cards?

When you formatted the card did you select Fat32?

I usually download the file .... compare and make sure the size matches ... and then copy the file to your formatted SD card.

It is a good idea to keep a folder on your computer with the updates for each unit you have....including the version of software that came with your units if you have them.

I usually start the unit up in forced simulator mode with nothing connected to the unit except power....Reset Defaults and then start up in forced simulator again.
