These are the wrecks remains d ela construction of a port on the beach of Utah Beach, they have been deliberately sunk in order to make a breakwater and protect the right Morn sle landing artificial harbor and facilitated arrival of troops and equipment. (prot cherbourg was then still in the hands of German) 2 ports were built this one and  Arromanches. UTAT Beach was destroyed by a tempest.
After the war the Italian steel scrap were recovered wrecks for the reconstruction of Europe, only some are still in a good condition.
