Search for missing man in Kentucky

(1/1)

Spd 135:
I am attaching the link to the post in the 898 forum.  I am a 24 year veteran of the Slidell Police Department.  I do these searches on my own time and on my own nickel, which is a small nickel.  Either way I am getting it done without using high dollar equipment.
I am close to a recovery.  We ran out of time this week but will return soon.  Mark Michaud

Thank you for what you do. I have had some experience trying to assist S&R teams. It's not as easy as you would think it would be, even with our equipment.

Chuck (sonar2000) has years of service using $100,000. units and it still takes time and skill to read the images. Some will accept an offer of help. Some won't.

Whatever you do, work with the person in charge as there are several moving parts going on at the same time that you won't be aware of.  Don't roll in on site and start scanning.

     We had it happen.

That's easy for me to know.  I have been the police for 24 years.  Still am.  But you are correct.  This case was cold and the locals, and the "big guns" gave up 2 years ago saying he will never be found much less recovered.  I have many years diving (Public Safety, scuba, commercial, cave and cave recovery as well as salvage work that is besides my commercial work.  I have been recovering things from our local waters since about 1996.  These include rings, bracelets, guns, boats sunk barges deer stands, false teeth, etc.  I have been an officer at a good department and have learned many thing including K-9 work, perimeters, Traffic homicide unit (7 yrs) as well as being involved in some high profile missing persons cases (Lisa Bruno and Lauren Easterling).  You can google "Mark Michaud police diver" and see some of what I have been privileged to do.  I have about 2 more years and I will retire but I am sure this will continue.  I will also be teaching the whole operational aspect as well as sonar soon.  The image is our search area.  Not just the red but the whole waterway. ;D  Mark

I've giving myself a  F-  on composition in my last post. The first sentence was in reference to your post. After that, being as I'm a senior citizen and my mind seems to wander,

the rest was intended for anyone reading and wanting to offer assistance. I did not intend to imply that you didn't know what you were doing. I'm sorry. I'll do better next time.

Lol.  No offence taken.  No one had any reason to know anything about me until now.  I could be some yahoo that has good intentions with bad ideas.
