Transducer Question
« on: June 30, 2014, 02:23:01 PM »
I was wondering if the XP 14 20 and the XTM 9 20 T are essentially the same transducer?  I have a XTM 9 20 T that I do not plan on using, but have been considering a through hull for when I run on a shallow river with a lot of sandbars.  Can I just epoxy the XTM 9 20 T to the hull (it's fiberglass), and be good to go or do I actually need the XP 14 20?

Thanks,
CC

CC, What unit is this for?
The XP-14-20 is made for the ONIX/ION units. Although it is s basic 20/60 degree 200/83kHz transducer it has a different connector than the XTM-9-20-T transducer and it also has some internal electronics for transducer detection and identification.

The unit I am working with is a 598Ci HD SI Combo. It's possible this unit won't support multiple transducers, I honestly haven't looked at that yet.  I was checking my options from a transducer point of view.  I also have a spare XNT 9 20 that I can throw in the mix.

CC,
Either the XTM-9-20-T or the XNT-9-20 can be epoxied inside-the-hull and connected to an AS-Si-DB-Y cable (along with the CSi transducer that came with the 598ci HD Si unit).  Whichever one is installed will serve as the 2D sonar for your 598 unit.
