May I ask?
« on: February 09, 2014, 12:30:01 PM »
I realize this is a SI forum, but may I ask a question about the 360 imaging?

Thanks BB!!

HB has had a 360 ducer that looks to be approx. 4' long (with an internal telescoping mechanism). It is compatible with many HB products, including my 798ci SI. I now see on the website a "NEW" form of 360, AS 360 TM. It is shown attached to a MK trolling motor with the following compatibility...

"From the HB website":

The bow mount 360 Imaging is designed to work exclusively with Minn Kota® Maxxum® and Minn Kota® Fortrex trolling motors with foot controls only. It attaches directly to the shaft of the trolling motor with a quick release bracket and stows and deploys quickly and easily.
For Use with:

    1198c SI
    998c HD SI
    998c SI
    898c HD SI
    898c SI
    798ci HD SI
    Minn Kota Maxxum®
    Minn Kota Fortrex

I'm considering upgrading to the new 999HD SI this year, but it is not listed as compatible. I would think the newer unit WOULD be compatible? Also, does anyone have any ideas why it is only compatible with the 2 MK motors? MUST it be used in conjunction with an e-motor? I do lots of icefishing, and would like to use the new AS 360 TM there, as I currently do with my 798ci, mounted on a wooden broom handle!! Thanks in advance for any help you can shed on this for me!!

First, is your 798 an HD version?  If not, it doesn't have Ethernet and will not work with the 360.

I am sure the 999 will work with the 360....Humminbird just doesn't have all their documentation updated for the 99 series yet.

There are several Humminbird dealers who may be able to help you with the trolling motor compatability.  I know Transducer Shield and Saver has some adapter brackets for some trolling motors.  It cannot be an electrics steer because it connects to the shaft.....There are some experimenting with home-made mounts who have electric steer or other motors that aren't compatable.

The TM 360 is listed as compatible for the cable steer trolling motors. The attachment clamps onto the non-moving collar of the trolling motor. The whole shaft turns on the electric steer minnkotas.
If your 798 is not the HD version it will not work. The x99 models will work but will need the ethernet adapter.

Thanks all!! No my current unit is not HD. My understanding is that the older unit (the big one) would work with it, but I just couldn't see myself schleping that big thing out on the ice with me. LOL I already get odd looks for all the toys I haul out with me!!!!
