RGecy you ruined me! ReefMaster Pro and some SI shots
« on: January 05, 2014, 02:11:59 PM »
Well I guess that would be if ya asked my wife or me, for me it gives me more of an excuse to be on the water.  You got me reading about the ReefMaster Pro and downloaded the trial.  Just upgraded today and got the full version.

Went out yesterday to make a bunch of structure drops on two of our lakes.  Made a recording on my 898 with several passes just down from the drop.  In this vid you can see the route and what you can do with ReefMaster.  Near the end you can actually see the 4 tree drop that was placed in this location when I go around it with the cursor.  I did not add the waypoint yet but it was right on target when viewed.

Added some of the SI shots from some bamboo pots that were put out.  The last one was a while after it was dropped and already pulling in fish...hope they are crappie  ;D

All the clouding in the water column is from not raising the motor before making my pass I guess.

Tell them I've gone fishing!

Hey Slab,

"You ain't seen nothin', yet!". ReefMaster users have their own forum website that will answer any questions and show you what users have done with the program.

Does reefmaster work with track depths only or can it utilize sidescan info also?

LocDown,

From what I got from Matt - when you record side-imaging, it picks up all data (SI, DI and 2-D). ReefMaster uses the depths from the 2-D part of your SI transducer for your maps. I had already mapped a large lake area (tracks) and went back to fully record it with SI for overlays, and added them to the database. The map changed to show more detail from the additional data. I forgot to correct for lower lake level between the two recording events and got some weird contours. After making the correction, everything was fine.

LocDown,

Rather than highjack slab's thread, I will PM you with my experiences.

Glad you like it!  Matt with ReefMaster Software has created a very nice program with lots of cool features! ;D

Look forward to seeing some more Picts and maybe a few crappie as well!

****kokanee****

Please continue, your knowledge with this system will be a great help and I'm sure others are using it as well.

When I was checking out the demo I went to the site and reg. with them and yes they do have a lot of info.

I did take my .DAT file and played with the overlay but never att. it to the map I'm making.  I did it with the demo on another lake along with some photo's.  You can att. photo's that correspond with a waypoint.....bummer you can not rotate the snapshot.

Due to ReefMaster being a sponsor maybe RGecy can fix something up here so we can talk about using it with our birds and show some of the things we do.  Seems like the Reefmaster site mainly works on high end detailed maps and a lot are from over seas, I could be wrong though.  Here it would be more geared to what we do.  Matt may even chime in from time to time to give guidance.

What do you guys think?

There is already a ReefMaster section in the forums here.  Matt is the moderator and will answer any questions you have.  There are quite a few users who are pretty good with it also!
