Install location options/advantages
« on: June 11, 2013, 12:57:53 PM »
All...just received my 998HD SI combo.  Will start the install tonight and will network it with my 798HD SI.

My original intent was to put the 998 on my front deck (where I spend most/all of my time fishing), but I'm starting to have second thoughts now.

Are there any advantages (other than screen size) for me to have my 998 at the console rather than on the front deck?

I know everyone has opinions, and I'd like to hear your thoughts before I start the install.

Again...I will be running both my 998HD SI and my 798HD SI....just questioning my original thoughts as to which goes where in the boat.

Console = display is 2ft away from your eyes...
Bow.     = display is 4-6ft away from your eyes...

Images on the 5" screen 798 are mighty small ...if trying to view it while standing on the front deck...

Now, if you don't use SI on the bow...this thought may be a moot point...

My two cents is that when you are navigating or
looking for fish, you will most likely be at your console.
To split the screen to have both map and sonar
is going to really make things look smaller.

I would put the biggest screen at the console.
When navigating, it would be saver to use the
bigger screen.
