Topic: Optimal Transducer Height

I just finished reinstalling my 587ci HD DI Tranducer. The new mounting bracket dropped it lower in the water its running about an ionch lower than top flow of water....seems to be working very good. kept depth at every speed and read bottom correctly at up to 30mph. It is spraying some water (not that much)....and I am sure it would rooster tail without plug that fills the gap.  So besides having a larger chance of hitting something is there anything wrong with leaving it that deep. Or should I say.... would I get as good or better perfromance running it higher where its skimming instead of plowing...Thanks

That all depends on how the water flows off the hull of your boat supernukes.  The only way to know for sure is to try it.
