798ci SI transducer placement on transom?
« on: August 09, 2012, 08:08:19 AM »
I have an 81 16' HydraSport Bassboat with an 81 115 Merc inline 6. I need to know where to put my transducer on my transom? See attached photos for reference.

There have been many prior questions like this.
Look at the search box at the upper right of your screen, and key in
'transducer placement'.

Dave,
The pictures you posted are too low of a resolution for me to see clearly on my PC.  Is there any way that you could post better pictures?

Also, do you fish anywhere that there may be stumps, trees, rocks or other objects that could damage the transducer if it is mounted low on the hull?

Do you want to use the unit for high-speed depth readings?

Greg,
Yes to all questions. This is the best I have for now.

I would suggest mounting the transducer just to the right of the ‘pocket’ (lower step) of the hull and where the trailer bunk and tie-down strap are located and installing an inside-the-hull XP-9-20 DualBeam transducer and an AS-Si-DB-Y cable.  The Side Imaging transducer can be mounted so it does not stick below the hull and so will be more protected from stumps and rocks.
