I was wondering this same thing.
I don't use SI or DI, but mostly 2-D, with Fish-id.
I prefer to troll, and a big Airmar transducer, with a 25 degree cone angle
would show a lot more of what I'm trolling over.
I don't fish in really deep water (100 feet or less), so 200khz would be fine.
I know people use the Airmar with Furuno and Lowrance units, but I can't
seem to find much info on the web for use with Humminbirds.
I read somewhere that the impedence is higher on Humminbird transducers,
and a Humminbird unit might get burnt up using a different transducer.
Maybe Greg has some info on it.
Hey Greg, have you heard anything bad about using an Airmar TM260, or TM270
transducer with a Humminbird 1197,1198?
I would be using this only for 200khz, and would like to know if
the Fish-id would work the same as the standard transducer.
Also, what would be the transducer type I would need to select in the
drop down menu?
Also, would I have to turn up or down any of the sensitivity settings?
I guess I want to know if an Airmar is 100% compatible with a Humminbird
unit. Will it generate any additional heat in the unit?
Thanks in Advance.
