sd card errors?
« on: June 18, 2012, 06:01:38 AM »
Purchased a 8gig scandisc mini-sd card to record in my 798si... Several times the unit declared it suffered an issue, and stopped recording.. I powered down the unit, and restarted and then the unit seemed to record fine.. Nothing that had been recorded had actually recorded(I couldn't review anything)

After returning home, tried reviewing the files in humviewer,, and only one file out of the 5 or so actually will load... What loaded looked good...

Anyone else ever have these issues, do I need another sd card?

You might try reformatting the SD card.

It seems to me, that if one file worked OK, then
the card must be compatible.

You don't need to actually be on the water to do recording tests.
I think multiple short recordings are better than one large recording.

ClemsonBloz

When making recordings you must also stop the recording otherwise the program cannot find End of File.  I occasionally have this problem forgetting to stop the recording before shutting down the unit.  Especially when I shut it down from the console to use the system at the trolling motor.

So if you start recording and the shut down the HB unit the recording will not work.

I do not normally reformat my cards but if you do, it must be a fat32 reformat, the others do not work.

I have another 4 gig card that I think I will try next time out.. Keep in mind,, I bought a 10 dollar card,, so it might be an issue with the card..

My longest recording was about 7 minutes,, the recording that worked was about 5 minutes and is fully functional(you can view in 2d,DI,SI,etc).

One file hangs when loading gps info,, others hang in various spots in humviewer..

Thanks to all that have read, and replied.. If I figure out, I'll post the result!

Update..

I tried another sd card I had when I went out this morning..

Worked like a charm.. I guess I'll try to format my new card and start again.. Might be a bum card..
