798c si interlink with 955c
« on: April 16, 2011, 10:08:27 PM »
Although I'm a newbie been reading the post for sometime, especially before I purchased my 798c Si which I love, only used it a couple of times freshwater.   A week ago before I purchased the interlink I call Humminbird,  I specifically ask if the 798c Si and 955c would interlink.  I told the lady I had updated both units with the latest software versions 5.45 and 4.95, respectively.  Tried to install today and 798 unit says it is not compatible with the version that is on the 955c.

Any suggestions!  I really do not want to call Humminbird back.
Thanks for your help!  I can't wait to contribute to the site when I learn more!

Spoke with Humminbird customer service today and was told the only way I can get it to work is if I use an earlier software version.  They also said they have no record of telling me that the software versions would be compatiable .to use with interlink

They have ways to know.  They are just taking the easy way out.  Make them escalate your concern.

When talking to customer service ask for a supervisor..Request a technical call back.
Ask for a contact with Johnson Outboard.  The parent company.
Search the internet for customer relationship numbers..
Ask your dealer who he can contact..
But I have a feeling there are folks on this forum who know more than HB....Hopefully they can weigh in on your question.
We seem to answer more here.
