HB wish list
« on: April 06, 2011, 07:10:29 AM »
I wish HB would put a lug on the head or some means of putting a lock on  the head to our boats. Something simple but effective. If you  pull in a Marina ,gas, restroom .etc. I sure would feel better. Gary

Hi, might not be what you mean but you can replace one of the side knobs with a key insert version so noone can take the head unit out of its bracket. Ive seen them advertised on Ebay.

Wish list?  I've only been on the water 15 minutes with my new HB and a few stand right out.
1) How about a bronze SI thru hull transducer option? Plastic is insane. Hit a floating 2x4 at planing speed with plastic and you're going down.
2) For deep-vees, a port SI TD and starboard SI TD that tee together into a single cable. This would eliminate almost all of the "outboards are in the way" problems.
3) For the 798, software  mod that allows cursor use on the SI image while in the Chart/SI view like the 898 and bigger units.
4) A fully adjustable TD mount that you dont have to loosen the screws that penetrate the hull for large boats stored in the water where pulling the boat to make an adjustment costs about $150.  How about one 1/4" allen head cap screw removed then lift the transducer up and out of the water. Make an adjustment, then put it back. The sealed mount piece stays on the boat. No need to haul the boat or hire a diver.
5) The baseline coastal charts are a joke. They dont even show land at less than a mile zoom. Look at the base charts of a Garmin 500 series. They show the pilings of my marina for no extra cost.

Hey There

I would like to see the following:

1) Better base map that someone else also mentioned

2) the ability to hook up my regular GPS to the head unit and view that mapping software on my HB SI unit

3) a USB cable that hooks directly to your computer from your head unit. none of this serial to usb adapter BS. We are in the 21st century here people. Serial went out with Dot matrix printers....

BTW if any of this is aviailable could someone please point me in the right direction to make purchases... ;D

Thanks,

Tom

I'll add another wish:

Horizontal tick marks on the SI screen (across the boat track) for every 10' to 100' of forward travel, with minor division tick marks in between, perhaps down to 1' resolution.

This would be very useful for immediately estimating the along-track size of objects, simliarl to the vertical range lines recently added to the SI screen.

Id like to see fish species identification.
I want to know what species it is, the length and girth, and if it is willing to hit my offerings.

Also,
For any fish that would be a State record for it's particular species, to cause it to blink on the screen.

Also,
I want to plug my destination into the unit and let it drive the truck with me asleep, launch the boat, and wake me up and pick me up at the dock.  And remotely park the truck.
 ;D
